Coming into hospital

Who's who on the wards

You will meet many different staff while you are in hospital such as doctors, nurses, ward clerks, porters, and healthcare assistants, for example. So you can be sure of who they are, our staff wear identity badges with their name on. If you are not sure of the name of the person you need to speak to, please ask.

Staff have different uniforms, so patients and visitors can tell who’s who. The image below can help you identify some of the most common uniforms you will see during your stay.

A uniform guide poster to show who it who in our hospitals identified by the colour of their uniform, listed are colours nursing uniforms with a description of the job role underneath them
