Paediatric Allergy Service
York paediatric allergy services is a secondary care specialist allergy service run by a Consultant Paediatrician with post graduate qualification in Allergy from Southampton University.
It is supported by two allergy specialist nurses and paediatric dieticians.
Clinics are held at York Hospital Child Development Centre Monday on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons. A service will be opening at Scarborough Hospital later this year.
Services provided include:
- Diagnosis of food & drug allergy by Skin Prick tests and Blood tests
- Open food challenges to un-diagnose allergies
- Sub lingual immunotherapy for Hay fever
- Specialist Dietetic support Epipen training
- Allergy information & Health care plans
- Play therapist support for Skin Prick test On-going telephone support
Referrals to the service are via GPs, Paediatricians, ENT specialists and Dermatologists.
