Your Child's Hospital Journey
Inpatient (Acute care)
Your child may be referred to York or Scarborough Hospital by your GP, out of hour’s doctor or the Emergency Department (A&E). Both hospitals provide a 24 hour paediatric service.
At York children are seen on the child assessment unit (CAU) or Ward 17. At Scarborough they are seen on the Duke of Kent Ward.
Your child will be seen by a specialist paediatric doctor. Every child has a named consultant however they may not necessarily be seen by that consultant initially. Ward rounds occur daily between 9am and 12pm.
When children are first admitted, if needed the ward will supply all the necessary supplies. However, if children are staying in hospital then we kindly ask parents to provide nappies and clothes.
