Special Care Baby Unit
The Trust has two Special Care Baby Units (SCBU) located at York and Scarborough Hospitals.
The majority of babies admitted to SCBU are premature, less than 36 weeks gestation.
The units provide high quality, evidence-based nursing care to babies that are born prematurely or are unwell.
Working closely with families and members of the multidisciplinary team, they help to ensure that there is a smooth transition from hospital to home. Once home, they provide a support service to babies and families in the community.
