Cancer support services

If you or someone you know is currently being investigated for or has been diagnosed with cancer, there is lots of support available through our teams at the Trust.

Patients on suspected cancer pathways can get in touch with their Pathway Navigator using the contact details provided following a referral from your GP. Our Pathway Navigators provide patients and their families with a point of contact for support and can help in a variety of ways, such as explaining the diagnostic process, helping patients navigate the system, signposting to further information, or providing an important listening ear.

For those with a diagnosis of cancer, our Cancer Wellbeing Service provides a wide range of free information and support to patients with a cancer diagnosis, their relatives, friends, and carers. You can find out more about the Cancer Wellbeing Service here or you can contact us using the contact details below:

Cancer services in our Trust

Cancer services at the Trust provide diagnosis and treatment, such as surgery and chemotherapy, for common cancers locally across the Trust hospital sites where more than 4,000 new cancers are diagnosed each year.

The Trust works closely with the Leeds Cancer Centre and Queens Cancer Centre in Hull to provide radiotherapy and treatments for patients with less common cancers.

Our experienced and skilled professionals specialise in many disciplines and come together to work as multi-disciplinary teams (MDT) to ensure the best possible care for patients.

All teams include a clinical nurse specialist to support patients through all stages of their diagnosis and treatment. The teams meet regularly to make recommendations for personalised care which is discussed with each patient at a clinic appointment or over the phone.

The Trust sits within the Humber & North Yorkshire Cancer Alliance which is committed to transforming the diagnosis, treatment and care for cancer patients in Humber and North Yorkshire.

If the service you’re interested in isn’t listed above, you can always get in touch with the team using the contact details provided in our patient information leaflets. You can find copies of all of our patient information leaflets for cancer services here.
