Introductions...Hello there!
Posted: Wed 14 May 2014 @ 15:31 by Chris Bartlett
Hi everyone, this is me.My name is Chris. I currently live near Pickering with my family, am 29 years old and have had Type 1 for nearly 4 years now. I've been on a pump for 2 years. I love film, photography and football. I work at York University and would love to move closer to York soon.
I'm interested in getting to know other local Type 1s, and to share tips and stories - anyone else fancy making an introduction?
Hope you're all well and enjoying life on the pump. Being a 'snacker', I find being on a pump fantastic for being able to graze throughout the day, but also great for being spontaneous in terms of sport and exercise.
That is, besides mowing the lawn, which for some reason always results in a hypo!...

Hi Chris
I live in Pickering, am 26, diabetic for 23 years and been on my pump for 5 years (I think!) Always good to meet new people in the area. Agree, the pump is magical when you're having nibbly days!
Email is Leonie2203@Hotmail.co.uk if you want to contact me. Would be nice to find out if there's any more of 'us' in this area too.

Any other pumpers out there? :)Posted: Mon 19 May 2014 @ 12:50 by
Hi, are you the same Chris who was in my pump group June 2012? Can't believe it's 2 years already. Sounds like you're getting on fine, me too apart from a broken arm with a cast from fingers to shoulder. However I think the pump has been much easier to operate with one hand than injections would have been, so there's another plus for it. After 6 weeks I finally get the cast off today so it feels like Christmas Day! It has made me realise how vulnerable we are when suddenly not able to do everything for ourselves regarding managing diabetes day to day. Amazing what you can do with one arm and your teeth though. Go on I challenge you to change your next set with one arm tied behind your back! Anne ChantryPosted: Tue 20 May 2014 @ 09:25 by Chris Bartlett
Hi Anne, yes June 2012 sounds right! No problems here, though travelling to Canada through airport security was interesting.Yes, I have always wondered what would happen in such a case as I've never shown my wife how to change my set.
My meter (accu chek mobile) would be fine for one arm but changing my set? No idea where to begin.
I've been warming up for such a challenge though, having cycled through my music on my iPad with my nose whilst washing up the other day ;)
