Second Opinion and Referred samples

Samples may need to be sent away for those cases requiring a second opinion or for tests not carried out in-house required for patient diagnosis.   The samples are sent to specialist centres or pathologists, the list below details the areas that are frequently sent referral cases.  occasionally other specialist opinions required, but these can be varied and depend upon the referring Consultant.

  • Cost of services provided and their turnaround time

Renal Biopsies

 

Native and renal transplant biopsies are processed at Leeds.  Three pieces of tissue sent in different fixatives for routine histology, direct immunofluorescence and electron microscopy are provided.
