General Information / Clinical Biochemistry Out of Hours Test Repertoire

The following tests are available out of hours:

U and E, Bicarbonate, Glucose, Liver Function Tests, Bone Profile, CK, Amylase, Troponin, CSF Glucose, CSF protein, Paediatric Bilirubin, CRP, Urate, Theophylline, Digoxin, Salicylate and Paracetamol.

Requests for other analytes should be discussed with the Duty Biochemist (01904 726366) or on call- consultant (via the hospital switchboard).

Xanthochromia screening for suspected SAH is available as 24/7 service in the York laboratory - for urgent requests outside of core hours (9am to 5pm, Monday-Friday) from Scarborough wards please contact Scarborough biochemistry laboratory to ensure prompt transport to York.

Maternity access at York Hospital - Saturday 22 February

On Saturday 22 February, 8am-6pm, there will be a temporary change of vehicle access to the maternity unit at York Hospital. Access via entrance 2 will be closed to allow essential works to be completed. 

If you are attending the maternity unit at York on this day, please drive in via the entrance for A&E (marked blue light priority).

The multi-storey car park will not be affected by this change, and any non-urgent visitors should continue to park in this area.
