Our services

Research and Innovation Department

As a research-active NHS Trust, we are proud to deliver important health research throughout North Yorkshire.

Research plays a vital role in improving outcomes by increasing our understanding of health and disease.  This is done by developing and refining evidence-based interventions and enhancing service delivery.

Our dedicated research and innovation department provides a hands-on approach, delivering a high-quality service that offers advice and support to researchers, members of the public, patients, and industry partners about getting involved in research, study design, study set-up, and delivery.

Please visit our research and innovation website to find out more about our service and how you can get involved in important research in our Trust.  You can also follow us on X at @YorkResearch.

Get involved

If you are a patient or member of the public interested in learning about important ways you can contribute to research within the NHS, please visit the NIHR Be Part of Research portal.  Here you can find out more about research within our location, express interest in certain trials, and learn more about how you can contribute.  The patient and public section of our R&I website also provides further information on ways you can support us within the Trust.

Our research performance

This Trust, like other NHS organisations with NIHR contracts, is required to provide quarterly performance reports to the NIHR central commissioning facility.  These reports provide an overview of recruitment to clinical trials, including commercial contract clinical trials.  If you would like more information on these reports or any studies, get in touch with our research team by email: yhs-tr.Research.Governance@nhs.net.

Our Trust is asking visitors to help protect patients from highly contagious winter infections by not visiting friends and relatives in hospital, when they have been unwell or in close contact with someone with flu or norovirus.  Full details here.
