Linking your patient information portal to the NHS app

Once you've signed up to the portal, also known as Patients Know Best (PKB), and the NHS App, you can access your health record via the NHS App.

This means you'll be able to receive notifications via the NHS App and securely access your outpatient letters and hospital appointments electronically.

How do I access my health record via the NHS App?

1. Download the NHS App

First, you need to register for the national NHS App, which you can do by searching for ‘NHS App’ in the App Store or Google Play and following the instructions.

You will be asked to follow several steps to verify your identity so that you can securely log in and access all of the services in the national NHS App.

You will need to know your NHS number to do this.

2. Sign up to the portal

  • Patients can sign up to the portal here
  • Click on ‘login using NHS login’
  • Once you are logged in, the portal registration page (powered by Patients Know Best) will appear and you will be prompted to create a password.
  • Once you have completed registration, you can access the portal through the NHS App.

3. Accessing your health record

You're now ready to access your health record. To do so, you will need to follow these steps:

  • Open ‘Messages’ in the NHS App and select ‘consultations, events and messages’
  • A message will open asking if you agree to share your NHS login information with Patients Know Best. Click ‘I agree’
  • Register with your email address, a strong password and a security question.
  • Accept the privacy agreement and click the ‘Register’ button
  • You’re all set! Next time you log into the NHS App you will be able to see both your GP and hospital appointment information

Please be reassured that whilst Patients Know Best is our partner in providing this service, they do not have any access to your health information, which remains secure. Your information doesn’t move from the NHS and you will be the only person who can view the information available through the NHS App.

Yellow weather warnings in our area

The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for ice and snow in our area. This is expected to affect routes to and from our hospital sites.

If you are attending for an appointment, please plan ahead. Check road closures, leave in plenty of time, and drive safely.
