Our values

Our values are kindness, openness, and excellence. These values help inform our thoughts, words, and actions. They are underpinned by a set of behaviours, created by and for our staff. Behaviours are the practical application of our values - translating them into day-to-day actions. They say who we are and what we stand for.

At our Trust, we are committed to creating a culture where everyone feels safe, respected, and that they truly belong. We continue to listen, learn, and grow in how we understand and value equality, diversity, and inclusion across our hospitals.

We know that coming into hospital can be a difficult and emotional time. Our colleagues are here to care for you and your loved ones with compassion and professionalism, and we ask that everyone treats each other with the same kindness and respect.

We have a zero-tolerance approach to racism, discrimination, or any form of abuse. This behaviour is never acceptable, and we will take appropriate and proportionate action to protect our staff, patients, and visitors if it occurs.

When you visit our hospitals, you will see No Excuse for Abuse posters and other campaign materials displayed throughout our sites. You can view an example of a No Excuse for Abuse poster here. These are there to clearly and consistently reinforce our message - there is no excuse for abuse, and everyone deserves to be treated with kindness and respect.

Together, we can create an environment where everyone feels safe, valued, and cared for.

Speaking up protects patient safety and improves the lives of workers. When things go wrong, we need to make sure that lessons are learnt and things are improved.

If we think something might go wrong, it’s important that we all feel able to speak up so that potential harm is prevented.
