How is information used by the NHS to invite people for screening?

If you are eligible for NHS breast screening, personally identifiable information about you is used to send you an invitation to be screened.

This information includes your:

  • name
  • date of birth
  • gender
  • NHS Number
  • Address

This information mainly comes from the records the NHS holds for everyone who is registered with a GP.

It is used by your local screening service to ensure you are invited for screening at the right time.

This information is also used by Public Health England to ensure that safe and effective screening programmes are provided across England.

Under data protection law, you have rights regarding the use of your personally identifiable information by the NHS and Public Health England for the breast screening programme.

If you would like a copy of any personally identifiable information Public Health England holds about you can contact:

The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for ice and snow in our area. This is expected to affect routes to and from our hospital sites.

If you are attending for an appointment, please plan ahead. Check road closures, leave in plenty of time, and drive safely.
