Elective surgery waiting list department

At your outpatient appointment, the clinician may decide that you need surgery or a procedure and will add you to an elective surgery waiting list.

Our elective surgery waiting list team maintains the accuracy of waiting lists and plans patient activity to minimise waiting times.

Once you have been added to an elective surgery waiting list, we will send you an acknowledgement letter about your wait. You will be contacted again every 12 weeks, either by phone or by text message, until the surgery or procedure can be booked.

Your surgery or procedure will be performed at the most appropriate hospital within our Trust. This could be York, Selby, Scarborough, Malton, or Bridlington.

IMPORTANT: Elective Surgery Waiting List does not manage waiting lists for initial or follow-up outpatient appointments.  If you have any queries relating to this, please contact our Outpatient Services Contact Centre on 01904 726400.

Contact our elective surgery waiting list teams

You may need to contact our elective surgery waiting list team to give us your unavailability (i.e. if you're going on holiday), to find out if you're on the surgical waiting list, to let us know of any changes to your personal details (if you've moved house or changed phone numbers, for example), to let us know if you're unwell, or if you've been given a date for surgery you cannot make.

Travelling to York Hospital

Essential work to fix a burst water main is taking place on Wigginton Road. As a result, traffic management arrangements are likely to remain in place until 18 October.

If you are visiting York Hospital, please allow extra time for your journey.
