The Respiratory Medicine Team at York provides a range of expert services in the management of acute and chronic respiratory disorders
The team supports patients with a range of conditions such as:
- Asthma
- Bronchiectasis
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
- Cystic Fibrosis (Click here for Cystic Fibrosis Site)
- Interstitial Lung Diseases (Extrinsic Allergic and Fibrosing Alveolitis)
- Long Covid
- Lung Cancer
- Lung Infections including Tuberculosis
- Pleural Conditions (Including Procedures)
- Pulmonary Emboli
- Sleep Related Breathing Disorders
- Respiratory Failure (Including Non-Invasive Ventilation support)
Acute Inpatient Services are based on Ward 34 at York Hospital, There are also a wide range of other inpatient, outpatient and community services based across York.
Services are provided by a multidisciplinary team including:
- Consultant Physicians

- Foundation Doctors
- Staff Grade Doctors
- Physician Associates and Advanced Clinical Practitioners in Respiratory Medicine
- Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeons (based in Castle Hill Hospital, Hull)
