For patients with IBD

If you experience a flare-up, please call the IBD helpline number below and explain to the team that you are experiencing a flare-up and you need to be seen.

Over the phone, the team will agree on a suitable appointment date and time with you.

The most common symptoms of an ulcerative colitis flare-up are:

  • Loose or more frequent bowel movements (diarrhoea)
  • Bleeding from the back passage
  • Abdominal pain

For patients with IBS

If you experience a severe flare, please call the IBS helpline number below and the nurses will be in contact with you.

If you require urgent medical advice, you should contact your GP or NHS 111, or your local emergency department (A&E) in an emergency. For all other concerns, your GP remains your first point of contact if you are feeling unwell.

Yellow weather warnings in our area

The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for ice and snow in our area. This is expected to affect routes to and from our hospital sites. 

If you are attending for an appointment, please plan ahead. Check road closures, leave in plenty of time, and drive safely.
